Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor

Location: Dartford (Hybrid - up to 4 days from home)

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

About the Role:
A leading manufacturing business based in Dartford is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor to support compliance with EHS legislation and promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture within the organization. This role offers hybrid flexibility, with up to four days working from home if required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the EHS Manager and department managers in ensuring compliance with all current and future EHS legislation.
  • Foster and promote a proactive EHS culture, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Act as an EHS business partner to line management, offering guidance and support on safety and environmental matters.
  • Identify safety and environmental risks and collaborate with departments to implement effective control measures.
  • Conduct site inspections and internal audits to maintain compliance with EHS regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and implement procedures and compliance programs to enhance safety awareness and environmental responsibility.
  • Support and participate in EHS-related committees, including local EHS and Energy Conservation committees.
  • Deliver training initiatives, including new hire inductions, safety training, and toolbox talks.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
  • Maintain and manage EHS reporting systems, monitoring performance against key indicators.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing Environmental Management standards, particularly in line with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Essential Requirements:

  • NEBOSH qualification (Diploma or Certificate).
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Proven experience in an EHS advisory role within a manufacturing or similar industrial environment.
  • Ability to assess risks, conduct audits, and develop compliance programs.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in EHS reporting and data analysis.

About Our Client:

Our client is a renowned and well-establishedmanufacturing business committed to maintaining the highest Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor to join their team.

The Role:

Reporting to the EHS Manager, EMEA, the EHS Advisor will play a key role in ensuring compliance with all current and future EHS legislation. The role involves promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors while driving a strong EHS culture across the organisation.

This is a full-time position based in Dartford, with flexibility over working hours and occasional travel across the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and promotion of an EHS culture, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Actively participate in the Global Safety Executive Committee and represent the EMEA region.
  • Act as an EHS Business Partner to line management, guiding and supporting employees in implementing EHS best practices.
  • Assist managers in demonstrating EHS leadership within their departments.
  • Identify safety and environmental risks and work with teams to implement mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct inspections and internal audits to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and internal standards.
  • Develop and maintain EHS procedures and compliance programs to drive a safety-first culture.
  • Participate in local EHS and Energy Conservation Committee meetings.
  • Deliver EHS training, including induction programs, toolbox talks, fire warden, and first aid training.
  • Ensure all EHS incidents and near misses are reported, investigated, and corrective actions are tracked to completion.
  • Maintain and monitor incident logs, accident statistics, and electronic reporting systems.
  • Assess EHS implications of new materials, equipment, and processes, ensuring proper control measures are in place.
  • Support the maintenance and development of ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement across all EHS-related activities.
  • Undertake any other duties as specified by the EHS Manager.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, risk assessments, and compliance requirements.
  • Previous experience with ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 is desirable.
  • Proven ability to influence and engage at all levels of an organisation.
  • Strong training and communication skills, with experience delivering safety training.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving and incident investigation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
