Job Title: Health & Safety Manager

Location: Whitstable, Kent

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum + Company Car

About Us: Our client is a leading Construction Contractor based near Canterbury, Kent. As part of their continued growth and commitment to excellence, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join their team as the Health & Safety Manager.

Role Overview: As the Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing our SHEQ division, shaping and implementing our SHEQ strategy, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. This is a newly created role where you will take a hands-on approach, leading with optimism and determination to drive continuous improvement in their SHEQ practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive SHEQ strategy aligned with the company's objectives and values.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the SHEQ team, fostering a culture of safety, health, environmental stewardship, and quality excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and standards, including ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate SHEQ requirements into project planning and execution.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and staff on SHEQ-related matters.
  • Drive a proactive approach to incident prevention, investigation, and reporting, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Monitor and analyse SHEQ performance metrics, providing regular reports and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior SHEQ leadership role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and influence others.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement SHEQ strategies and initiatives.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proactive and solution-focused mindset.
  • Willingness to travel, mainly within the South-East region, with occasional nationwide visits as required.
