Our client, a well-renowned chemical business based in Winchester, is currently seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join its team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled professional with a strong scientific or engineering background to provide essential technical support across the UK and Europe.
Technical Support Engineer responsibilities
Technical Support
- Provide expert technical assistance to the UK & European distributor network via phone, email, and in person.
- Conduct distributor training, attend joint customer visits, and support sales teams with technical expertise.
- Develop and implement testing programs, generating supportive technical data for service projects.
- Manage technical support channels, including helpline calls and email inquiries.
- Prepare technical presentations and training materials, host webinars, and lead hands-on demonstrations.
- Support the resolution of product quality complaints.
- Represent the company at exhibitions and industry events as required.
Quality Control & Document Management
- Arrange and provide quality control (QC) coverage when necessary, including during staff absences.
- Create and manage technical datasheets and documentation.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to produce technical articles, blogs, brochures, and PR materials.
- Develop case studies, application profiles, and product sales tools.
- Business Innovation & General Responsibilities
Technical Support Engineer requirements:
- A science-based degree (e.g., Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering) or an engineering background.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Full UK driving licence (required for travel to distributor sites and events).
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- This role is ideal for a proactive, customer-focused individual who enjoys problem-solving and providing technical expertise in a dynamic, international environment.
- Experience working either in a lab looking to transition into a customer-focused role or currently in a client/customer function.
