Cranleigh STEM is partnering with an innovative start-up dedicated to replacing fossil fuels and combating climate change. We would like to hear from Mechanical Engineers who are passionate about sustainability and eager to join this rapidly growing organisation.
In this role, you will be a key player in designing and optimising our client’s hydrogen production system. You’ll be able to take full technical ownership of all aspects of their ongoing projects.
To be considered you should hold a degree in mechanical engineering and possess experience designing mechanical systems, particularly in pipework and gas systems. Ability to perform stress analysis and ensure the integrity of piping systems and familiarity with ATEX regulations, which govern equipment used in explosive atmospheres.
Salary: From £35,000 +

Role: Full-time, permanent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the senior engineering team and other engineers to develop and test concepts for the microwave reactor and other essential sub-systems.
- Developing CHD models for containerised production systems.
- Creating general assembly drawings for the reactor and balance of plant sub-systems and integrating supplier drawings into internal files.
- Conducting mechanical stress calculations to ensure accurate specifications.
- Managing technicians in the mechanical fitting of components, including generating work instructions.
- Ensuring designs and built systems/components comply with relevant legislation and standards.
- Supporting staff in operating equipment, including fault finding, data logger analysis, and system performance evaluation.
- Assisting the engineering team in designing, specifying, and sourcing components for hydrogen generators.
Requirements:
- Degree in mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency in designing systems, especially pipework and gas systems, with strong CAD skills.
- Experience in designing, installing, and maintaining gas systems, with knowledge of appropriate materials.
- Expertise in pipework design, including stress analysis and adherence to standards.
- Familiarity with ATEX regulations and experience designing systems for explosive atmospheres.
Desirable:
- Prior experience working in a start-up environment.
- Experience in generating CE/UKCA documentation.
