Description

Cranleigh STEM is working with a leading provider of hydrogen fuel cell power systems to generate clean energy in support of the global energy transition. We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join its team on a permanent, full-time basis and to help deliver on the company’s long-term success.

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting existing and developing new products within hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen generation and integrated power solutions.

You will be required to support cross-functional activities between the Control & Electronics, Fuel Cell Product Development, Systems Development, Production and Testing departments.

Our clients’ scalable systems provide off-grid, zero-emission power already being deployed for rapid electric vehicle charging and replacing diesel generators for temporary power applications.

The Company has entered an exciting growth phase and is scaling up its operational capacity to meet demand for our zero-emission systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development of embedded software for solutions and products, encompassing hardware and software interfacing.
  • Defining, generating, and maintaining documentation for software products to ensure compliance and validation in accordance with product specifications.
  • Handling the design, implementation, modification, and maintenance of software throughout its lifecycle.
  • Collaborating with other design engineers and scientists to ensure correct product integration.
  • Support various design activities, including Safety Reviews, HAZOP, Cause & Effect analysis, SIL assessments, and LOPA reviews.
  • Undertaking fault analysis, correcting faults, and supporting product evaluation through hands-on testing with a range of test equipment.


Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in Electronics / Software Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Extensive design and development experience in embedded C, either using an RTOS or a BareMetal MCU.
  • Strong understanding of the C++ language and general concepts of OOP, especially applied to embedded systems.
  • Understanding of memory management and efficient coding techniques.
  • Experience with communications interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, etc.
  • Experience in designing device drivers.
  • Experience in component and system-level testing.
  • Experience in using Software Version Control systems like git.

This role necessitates a candidate with significant expertise in embedded microcontrollers and software development within the Electronics team. Responsibilities encompass capturing requirements, defining software architectures, supporting system trades, producing specifications, and engaging in hands-on development, debugging, and verification at both software and system levels. The ideal applicant should be adept at troubleshooting embedded targets, have familiarity with software configuration and debugging tools, and excel in an innovative design environment, demonstrating initiative in both independent work and collaboration within a team of engineers and scientists.
